Day After Shoots

I've had a lot of brides recently inquire about Day After shoots or "Trash the Dress" shoots. The premise behind these fabulous shoots is that you dress back up in your gorgeous dress (so that makes 2 times in your life you'll get to wear it--yay!) and have a relaxed shoot with or without your hubby and get gorgeous shots you wouldn't have time or be able to get on the day of your wedding. These shoots are done after the wedding just in case you by accident, or on purpose, "trash" your dress. The shoot isn't necessarily the day after your wedding--it could be weeks or even years after *such as with this shoot...

A while ago via Facebook, I inquired if any brides out there would be willing to have me shoot them in their dresses and I had several gals take me up on the offer! So here are some fun images from our first shoot with Marcie at Alaskala...er, I mean, Pioneer Park. *If you grew up here, you'll get that...

Marcie was a bride of mine several years ago and she made the 2 dresses she wore in this shoot (along with the veils and bouquets). I LOVE the dresses - both are from actual vintage patterns and hey, who says you can't get married in baby blue or white polka dots? We are planning another shoot in Marcie's actual wedding dress (a vintage 50's lace dress) because one of our "props" wasn't ready yet, so stay tuned for those images in a later post.

So why do I love this type of shoot? Time flexibility, awesome locations, fun and relaxed atmosphere, and the chance to have one-of-a-kind photographs in your gorgeous dress.

View more photos of Marcie and the behind the scenes photos of this shoot on Facebook. Enjoy!
